Jim Camp, MFA CCIM has been with Adams Commercial Real Estate, since 1996. He is an A.B. graduate of Mercer University majoring in music, followed by a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Georgia with a concentration in organ performance.

In 2003 Jim was awarded the prestigious CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) designation. This achievement, realized by less than 10% of all Real Estate professionals, is considered the pinnacle of commercial real estate and clearly sets Jim apart from other commercial practitioners.

Since joining Adams Commercial Real Estate Jim became strongly involved in the redevelopment of commercial nodes such as East Atlanta Village. For example, in East Atlanta Jim successfully brokered a number of sites, including the current Truist Bank building as well as several restaurant locations, including what is now Holy Taco, the Midway and others. His skill at assembling larger sites came into prominence when he represented the Atlanta Board of Education in securing the site of the current Parkside Elementary School, located in Grant Park. As a part of the development team, Jim assisted in the purchase and construction of a 10,000 SF retail site housing a local trade school in Dekalb County. As a Buyer himself he was part of the development team that saved the former Hapeville Elementary School turning it into Hapeville’s first condo complex. Several sites along the Memorial Drive corridor that now have mixed-use multi-story apartment complexes were brokered by Jim.

Leasing opportunities have included deals with State Farm and Allstate as well as several restaurants, offices and retail locations.

Jim has extensive experience with IRC Section 1031 Tax-Deferred Exchanges, which allows a Seller to defer Federal tax on capital gains. This strategy, which is not understood by some Sellers, is utilized as another tool in his real estate arsenal to assist clients facing significant tax liabilities.

Two other areas of expertise for Jim are churches and poultry farms. Adams Commercial Real Estate has extensive experience in selling churches since the early 1990’s when our office brokered the sale of the Baptist Tabernacle in Downtown Atlanta. Since that time various members of our team have been involved in church sales thought the Metro area ranging in price from the low $300,000s for small intown locations to over $2,000,000 for the Tabernacle.

Through his business connections with the local Chin Burmese refugee community in 2019 Jim began helping local members of this group qualify for and purchase large poultry farms in Western Georgia and Eastern Alabama, further diversifying his client base and portfolio. Sales of farms have ranged from $600,000+ to over $2,000,000.

Jim is a member of the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors as well as the Georgia CCIM Chapter, having served 2 terms on its Board of Directors. He is an avid horse enthusiast, often traveling out of state to attend horse racing events such as the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes. He spent over 10 years volunteering at WABE which included working both Spring and Fall Pledge Drives as well as several other station-oriented activities throughout the year and has just completed his 10th year of volunteering with the Atlanta Open Tennis Tournament held each year at Atlantic Station including numerous pre- and post-tournament events throughout each year. Jim is also a runner and has competed in the Chicago, Atlanta, Louisville and Marine Corps (Washington, DC) marathons as well as many half-marathons and 10K races.
